Yolanda Martinez is a Native American singer, songwriter, and internationally respected master drum maker based in Las Cruces, New Mexico. A four‑time NAMMY (Native American Music Awards) winner and Grammy-recognized artist, she has spent more than three decades crafting traditional Native and ceremonial drums, performing worldwide, and teaching the spiritual and cultural significance of rhythm.

Born in Carlsbad, New Mexico, Martinez’s path has been shaped by a deep connection to Earth Mother and a lifelong commitment to healing and empowerment through music. She began making drums in 1987, developing a distinctive stringing style and earning the title “Master Drum Maker” as her instruments gained national and international acclaim. Her company, Legends Alive Productions, ships handcrafted drums globally and hosts workshops, concerts, and lectures that blend artistry with spiritual teaching.

Martinez is also an author; her memoir Following Earth Mother’s Heartbeat chronicles her remarkable life—from early years in New Mexico to breaking barriers as one of the first women to commercial fish out of Kodiak, Alaska, and ultimately embracing her calling as a spiritual guide and drum maker.
